I tried my hand at cake decorating this weekend for my mom's birthday. My grandmother baked cakes for weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays for friends and family so I asked her to share her knowledge. I spent the afternoon with my grandmother learning how to make frosting and we decorated the cake together. Not bad for my first cake!
This past weekend I spent time at my aunt's farm. I am always amazed at how effortless it is to get up at 4am when I am at the farm. The rooster is set in his ways and the rest of the the animals seem to follow. I enjoy hearing the thunder of the horses hooves as they race to the barn to get their grain. After chores and coffee in hand the dog and I make our way around the property for a peaceful morning walk.
After one year of missing carving pumpkins with L&N we were back for another round. The girls cleaning and painted their pumpkins. Liz and I carved ours after the girls were in bed. We had so much fun!
My mother has been an advocate for breast cancer awareness for the past 20 years. She has never hesitated to donate time or money to this very serious cause. For the past 15 years she has been a survivor herself. She is one of the strongest women I have ever known. Congratulations mom and keep up the wonderful work you do.
I read and article in the paper that I thought was rather interesting. The Mustard Museum has always been an interesting place to take people to see. It is a quiet little museum that is truly based around mustard. When people visit it is one of the places I enjoy taking them. How many people have visited a world famous mustard museum? I am sad that it will be leaving the area.
